Terms & conditions

Terms and conditions of business

1. Definitions

“VC Carpentry & Building Services”, “we”, “us” or “our” refers to the business providing the services.

“You” or “the client” refers to the person or organisation commissioning the work.

2. Scope of work

All work will be carried out in accordance with the agreed quotation, specification or written agreement. Any changes or additional work requested after acceptance may be subject to a revised quote or additional charges.

3. Quotations and pricing

All quotations are provided based on the information available at the time. Quotes are valid for a limited period and may be subject to change if material costs, access conditions or project scope alter. Prices are exclusive of VAT unless stated otherwise.

4. Payments

Payment terms will be agreed prior to work commencing. This may include staged payments for larger projects. Final payment is due upon completion of the agreed works unless otherwise stated. Late payments may result in delays or suspension of work.

5. Variations

Any variations to the agreed scope, including changes requested by the client or unforeseen work required, will be discussed and agreed before being carried out where possible. Additional costs may apply.

6. Materials

Materials will be supplied as agreed. Where the client supplies materials, we are not responsible for defects, delays or suitability issues arising from those materials.

7. Access and site conditions

The client must provide safe, clear access to the work area during agreed working hours. Any delays caused by restricted access, unsafe conditions or incomplete preparatory works may result in additional costs.

8. Timescales

Estimated start dates and durations are provided in good faith but may be affected by weather, material availability or unforeseen circumstances. We will communicate any significant changes as soon as possible.

9. Health and safety

All work is carried out in accordance with relevant health and safety regulations. The client must ensure the site is safe and free from hazards not related to the agreed works.

10. Insurance and liability

We hold appropriate insurance for the work undertaken. Our liability is limited to the value of the agreed contract. We are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses.

11. Defects and workmanship

We take pride in delivering high-quality workmanship. Any defects must be reported within a reasonable period after completion, allowing us the opportunity to inspect and, where appropriate, rectify the issue.

12. Cancellations

If the client cancels work after acceptance, we reserve the right to recover costs incurred for materials, labour or preparation already undertaken.

13. Ownership of materials

All materials remain our property until full payment has been received.

14. Disputes

In the event of a dispute, both parties agree to attempt to resolve the matter amicably through discussion before pursuing formal action.

15. Governing law

These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
